otonom

The „Otonom“ prototype is an example of how design and craft can come together to tell a story and open up new perspectives. Detached from the eclectic narratives of cast iron, it is light, modern and unfussy. The shelf consists of cast iron parts that are connected with maple slats. Due to its own weight and wedging, it does not require any additional bracing. Otonom was developed as a semester project in collaboration with Nottaris AG Eisengiesserei at HSLU D&K. The arrangement and combination of materials creates a visual and conceptual connection that encourages the viewer to think about the origin and production of objects.
